How it all started: the Berghof Chronicle
1926
In the beginning Mrs. Rosl Reichert leased the Alpe Eck: an agricultural alp which soon became a beloved mountain hut with restaurant and over-nighting services.
1930 – 1935
These were very successful years for the Alpe Eck which Mrs. Reichert was eventually able to buy. The Berghof was constantly expanded and renovated in order to meet the rising demands of an ever increasing clientel.
1935 – 1937
Construction of a purely tourism and hospitality oriented building just above the agricultural building of the Alpe Eck. Access to the Allgäuer Berghof was made easier thanks to the construction of the 3.5 km long access road.
1943 – 1945
Confiscation of the Berghof for pre-military training for youth groups.
1945 – 1960
Through the war years guests kept the Berghof in their minds and returned shortly thereafter. Further expansions to the Allgäuer Berghof hotel were necessary to meet the ever increasing demand. The first ski lift was built right in front of the hotel. 1956, Ossi Reichert wins Olympic gold in the giant-slalom in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
1960 – 1970
More large expansions and renovations. The Berghof is under continuous growth. Among other firsts, one of the first indoor swimming pool in Germany is built. In 1963 Rosl Reichet passes away and her husband Willi and daughter Ossi take over the running of the business.
1970 – 1980
Continuous expansion and modernisation characterize these years. In 1976 Hannes Neusch, grandson of Rosl Reichert and his wife Margrit enter the business. In 1983 Willi Reichert dies and Hannes and Margrit, themselves parents of three, start to focus the hotel services on families.
1983 – 1990
The Neusch-Reichert family and the Berghof staff do everything to make the Berghof a family holiday paradise.
1990 – 1991
Construction of the new reception desk and the “Wiesenflügels” (Field wing). At the end of June, 1991 the first guest move in. The Berghof has grown by one third and can now provide 165 family friendly beds.
1993
The Neusch-Reichert family initiate the foundation of the family friendly hotel corporation FAMILOTEL.
1996 – 1997
Complet rebuilding of the 3.5 km long Berghof road. The snow production area in the skiing area is built. The Berghof is now part of the largest snow production area in Germany.
1998 – 2005
Yearly renovation and modernization. In the restaurant the buffet “Froschi’s Schlemmeroase” (Froschi’s gourmet paradise) is born and the ski rental is modernised and expanded. Total renovation of all rooms and furnishings.
2006
